With a total of 470 million dollars: Monterey Week auctions break records and Ferrari sweeps

One of the most exciting aspects of Monterey Car Week is seeing the incredibly rare and most expensive cars being auctioned off by the many auction houses that exist. For this 2022 edition, auction houses such as RM Sotheby's, Gooding & Co, Broad Arrow Auctions, Bonhams and Mecum have sold an impressive selection of cars.

According to Hagerty, more than 110 cars sold for more than $1 million at Monterey auctions, setting a new record. 2015 ($395 million).
For example, take RM Sotheby's who brought in a 1955 Ferrari 410 Sport for an estimated price of eight figures, for $22 million, making it the most expensive car to sell during the Monterey festivities.
As for the types of cars sold in Monterey, the vast majority of expensive parts were classics such as the 1958 Ferrari 250 GT 'Tour de France' that Mecom sold for $2.86 million at auctions and the second-highest-priced 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Atalanta for $10,345,000 through Gooding & Co. There were also more modern classics like the 1995 Ferrari F50 that sold for $5.175 million.
On top of that, a unique Porsche 911 Sally Special that was designed to look like Sally Carrera from the Pixar Cars movie was priced at $3.6 million. Most importantly, this amount of money was donated to Girls Inc.
In fact, Ferrari makes up the entire Monterey week's top 10 sales, with the oldest being a 1953 Ferrari 375 MM Spider and the most recent a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/C Coupe, both sold by RM Sotheby's.
