Automobili Lamborghini unveils Urus Performante

 

Automobili Lamborghini has unveiled the all-new Urus Performante, which sets a new benchmark for the 'exciting driving' performance of its premium SUV, at the Quail Gather, A Motorsports special event. The Urus Performance is the newest and most technically advanced version to date in the Urus family of super SUV, which is now the fastest production SUV to climb Pikes Peak, with a time of 10 minutes. 32.064 seconds, breaking the previous record for a famous hill climb set in 2018 by a Bentley Bentayga with a time of 10 minutes 49.902 seconds.

The Urus Performance sets the bar in terms of sportiness and performance, with an emphasis on design aspects that reflect the new Urus' strength on the road, track and off-road terrain. The Urus Performance has 666 hp and a weight reduction of 47 kg (103.6 lb), giving it a best-in-class weight-to-power ratio of 3.2 points. The new Pikes Peak Queen can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 - 62 mph) in just 3.3 seconds (+0.3 seconds faster than the base Urus), with braking improved from 100 to 0. km/h (0-62 mph) across a distance of 32.9 meters (107.9 ft) (-0.8 m; -2.6 ft).


Commenting on this, Stefan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, said: “The Urus Performance realizes the true performance capabilities of our premium SUV, which is Lamborghini's best-selling model. In addition to the Urus Performante, Lamborghini showcased a range of models during The Quail, including the convertible Huraćan EVO RWD Spyder, the racing-inspired Huraćan STO, and The new 'Huraćan Tecnina' – designed to provide the ultimate experience both on the road and on the track.


Constantly focusing on the future, Lamborghini has also revealed the company's logo for its 60th anniversary celebration, ahead of the international celebrations to be held in 2023. The largest gathering will be held in May in Santa Agata Bolognese, where Lamborghini is based, to celebrate What is considered 'the future that took off in 1963'. The logo design has been inspired by the brand’s rich heritage of the raging bull symbol, exemplifying the strong bond embodied between generations of Lamborghini vehicles and the brand’s genetics.

Celebrating Lamborghini's creation of the first super SUV in history and highlighting the vehicle that paved the way for off-road vehicles, a selection of LM 002 vehicles held by American collectors is also on display. Like the LM 002, which was first unveiled 40 years ago at the Geneva Motor Show, the Urus has the distinction of creating its own super sports utility vehicle class, reimagining Lamborghini's options and the brand's overall evolutionary journey.
