Lucid launches a teaser for the Air version with three engines to compete with Tesla

Cars - Lucid Motors recently tweeted that the number three is a magic number. And published a short video clip of three wandering in space. From this we can conclude that the long-awaited version of the Air with three engines is on the way. Which was launched on August 19 at The Quail event. The power of this car may reach between 3000 and 4000 horsepower during the next three to four years.

Nearly two years ago, Lucid introduced an Air version with three 1,800 horsepower engines. Peter Rawlinson, CEO of the company, said that this model can run the quarter mile in 9.3 seconds. The current record for electric cars is held by Rimac Neviera, with a time of 8.58 seconds.

And the auxiliary motor was added to the rear axle, meaning the prototype had a dedicated motor for each rear wheel. And besides the added performance, imagine what Lucid could do with the rear wheels that are single actuated. This can be concentrated in the active torque vectoring to each rear wheel. Lucid had previously stated that the number of the three engines could reach 1,920 hp.

One of the problems for the company was that the battery was limited and could only provide 1,200 horsepower. But since it was announced two years ago, there has been a huge development in batteries that can now reach 1,920 hp. Given that all Dream Edition copies of the car are sold, the most powerful model of De Lucid currently is the Grand Touring Performance, with a power of up to 819 hp, but the real performance is up to 1050 hp.
